Jean Arp and Sophie Taeuber

Jean Arp (formerly Hans) was an influential individual around the 1920's, and was a founding member of the Zurich DADA movement, along with Max Ernst and Tristan Tzara.

In 1922, Arp married fellow artist and member of the DADA movement, Sophie Taeuber, where they collaborated on many subsequent projects, and inspired by Andre Masson, practiced the art of 'automatic drawing', where their work started to transcend from Dadaism into Surrealism.

"While Arp prefigured junk art and the Fluxus movement in his incorporation of waste material, it was through his investigation of biomorphism and of chance and accident that he proved especially influential on later 20th-century art in liberating unconscious creative forces."
